The Sishood Launch – Creating a Sisterhood for Expat Women in Malta

The Sishood is more than a community in Malta — it’s a sisterhood, a safe space for authentic connections and empowerment.

Starting a new life abroad is exciting, but it also comes with moments of loneliness. In Malta, we quickly noticed how hard it was to create genuine connections.

There are plenty of parties and nights out, but not many places where women can sit down, talk, and really feel at home with each other. That’s where the idea of The Sishood was born.

We’re two women who met here and became friends. After months of sharing our stories, we realized how much we both missed having a circle of women around us — sisters we could laugh with, open up to, and grow alongside. So we decided to create the space we had been looking for ourselves: a safe, welcoming community for women, built on warmth, authenticity and support.

Through The Sishood, we want to offer more than events. We want to create moments where you feel truly seen. Whether it’s over brunch with journaling, a creative workshop, or a fun seasonal night, every gathering is designed to help you step out of your comfort zone, meet inspiring women, and build friendships that last.

On September 4th, we hosted our very first event: The Launch Night – Drinks & Connections. It took place on a rooftop in St. Julian’s, with the sea breeze and city lights setting the mood.

Women from different backgrounds came together, many not knowing anyone yet, but all curious and open. Very quickly, conversations flowed, laughter filled the space, and what started as a room full of strangers turned into the beginning of a sisterhood.

That evening wasn’t just the launch of a community — it was the start of something we hope will change the way women experience life in Malta. A cocoon where you can be yourself, meet sisters, and grow together.

This was not just a launch.

It was the beginning of a movement: a safe and empowering space for women in Malta.
